Schneider Electric Amps Up Its Use of Kinetic Data’s Enterprise Request Management Software

Cost savings and great employee experience drive plans for language translation and expansion beyond IT service desk into core areas of the enterprise

ST. PAUL, Minn. (July 28, 2015) — Today, enterprise request management (ERM) and business process workflow company Kinetic Data announced that Schneider Electric has completed its upgrade and expansion of its ERM system using Kinetic Data software.

Schneider Electric is a global organization with more than 170,000 employees in 134 countries, supplying a wide range of business and residential energy products and services. A key business objective of the company is to provide employees with a positive work experience.

"Although we had a sound foundation for ERM, the front-end request portal hadn’t been updated to reflect our company’s changing needs and growth," said John Conroy, Schneider Electric's Director of User Life Cycle. "In 2010, mobile devices weren’t prevalent, but today they're driving people's expectations for a fast, simple experience. We had to take action."

The results of updating the Kinetic Request service portal are impressive:

  1. A 38 percent shift from phone to Web portal requests, representing $1.4 million in cost savings;
  2. A 50 percent improvement in portal load time;
  3. An 80 percent reduction in submission time from using its Google-like search feature and its login intelligence that fills in forms automatically;
  4. A 54 percent reduction in misrouted tickets, saving an estimated 260 labor hours.

Just as important as the stats is the improvement in employees' experience with the system. "The comments were a pleasant surprise," said Conroy. "The internal chat system lit up with comments from all over the globe like 'Bravo!', 'Magnificent design!' and 'This is excellent!'"

Schneider Electric's new portal has been such an overwhelming success that plans are already in place to translate the site into French, German and Chinese. The company plans to leverage its Kinetic Data ERM technology outside the IT department to manage facilities, HR and copy center requests. Schneider also is scanning the global landscape to identify other possibilities for improved employee experience, productivity gains and cost savings from their ERM system.

More on Kinetic Data ERM Products
Kinetic Request is a service request management application that enables organizations to build intuitive Web-based portals where employees can report issues, submit requests for any type of shared service, and check on the status of pending items at any time, from any device. Business process owners across the enterprise—in IT, HR, facilities, finance, or other departments—can quickly and easily create their own "service items" to display on the portal.

Coupled with Kinetic Task, Kinetic Request enables organizations to implement an enterprise request management (ERM) strategy. Taking an incremental approach to ERM using Kinetic Data tools, companies can begin to see benefits in 30–60 days. For other types of process workflow automation, benefits can be realized almost immediately.

Kinetic Task lets companies bypass long and complex projects to replace decentralized business process automation and inadequate service delivery projects. An advanced automation engine with an open architecture, it enables full integration of workflow processes between virtually any enterprise data sources without making major infrastructure changes.

Platform-agnostic, Kinetic Task communicates using common protocols with virtually any enterprise application, such as ERP, human resources, ERM and ITSM platforms. It provides a nonproprietary approach for centralized business process automation and service delivery management.
