ST. PAUL, Minn. (April 29, 2013) — Responding to the market shift from queue-based to schedule-based business service request fulfillment as well as the ever-increasing number of employees using mobile devices, Kinetic Data announces a platform-agnostic version of Kinetic Calendar. The new web-based calendaring tool, Kinetic Calendar 2.0, provides resource scheduling management across the enterprise, with the ability to access time- and date-based information from virtually any enterprise application. Previously, the product was available only on the BMC Remedy platform.
A unique way to view event-based data stored in enterprise applications, Kinetic Calendar 2.0 offers the ability to create calendars for different groups as well as the ability to display events from multiple forms and applications on one calendar. For example, an active calendar could be created across organizational functions; combining scheduling elements from IT to facilities, HR, accounting and other functional groups.
Using Kinetic Calendar 2.0, time-based information captured or generated within any ERP, HR, IT Service Management (ITSM) or other enterprise applications can be visually displayed synched with personal data in Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, Microsoft SharePoint and Google calendars; and then viewed in multiple drill-down calendar options.
“The Apple Genius Bar approach has been called the ‘future of the corporate help desk,’ but that won’t become reality until organizations have similar scheduling capabilities,” said John Sundberg, president of Kinetic Data. “With Kinetic Calendar 2.0, we’ve eliminated the challenge with multiple easy-to-use calendaring options that work with underlying ITSM systems and other federated data sources to automate employee-empowered scheduling decisions.”
Through access to underlying ITSM systems, as well as personal and team calendaring applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Kinetic Calendar 2.0 supports employee self-service while avoiding resource-scheduling conflicts. The product helps managers avoid resource conflicts by consolidating activities and allows employees to make Genius Bar-type scheduling decisions on their own and, when authorized, create events directly from a web client interface.
